Christa Ascher

Christa Ascher ca. 1980

In over 20 years of translation work, Christa Ascher (Berlin) has translated the most important works of John W. Doorly into German. My mother possessed a keen sense for the spirit and letter of John W. Doorly's works. She began her work on a monstrous typewriter, but then enthusiastically switched to a PC so that she could repeatedly edit the texts thoroughly using word processing systems. As an English and German studies scholar, I was privileged to assist her. Today, I hold the rights to her translations and explore the optimal publication options, often with partners. Unpublished digital versions of Doorly's verbatim lectures and summer schools are available (see below).
